Can Calendar Signs be weekly too?

Sure. It doesn’t have to be a full monthly layout.

Here’s how to make a simple weekly chalkboard design:

  1. Divide your board into 8 rows.
  2. In the top row, add a header to the top of your sign with the date range of the week.
  3. In row 2, write ‘Monday’ on the left (keep it small).
  4. Keep going, row by row, with each day of the week.
  5. Now you can add your calendar items in each row/day of the week!

TIP: If you want to be fancier, don’t draw your rows the full width of the board to leave space for a few extra square sections for ‘Notes’ or ‘Dinner Menu’.

How big should my Farmhouse Calendar Sign be?

Your calendar sign should be at least 12 inches and up to a max of 60 inches (5′ feet) in diagonal width.

Remember:

A calendar sign usually includes a full monthly layout, so make sure your sign is big enough to fit in all your days.

What is a creative design idea for my Calendar Sign?

Stack two monthly calendars — draw a full month layout on the top half of your board and the next month’s layout underneath.

That way you can see your progress month-to-month, and you don’t have to erase your board as often. 😉

TIP: You’re going to need a tall board for this, so look for one that’s at least 3′ feet tall.

Where should I put my Calendar Sign?

Put your calendar in a high-trafficked area (that your family walks by often), so they can see everyone’s schedule.

The top 3 places:

  1. Kitchen
  2. Garage
  3. Laundry room

TIP: If you hang your sign in the garage, put your sign by the garage door buttons, and if you keep it inside the house, consider getting it framed to match your interior decor.

How do I clean my Calendar Sign?

When it comes to a family calendar, you’ll be doing a lot of editing & wiping off.

So all you need to do is keep a rag (preferably damp) nearby.

TIP: It really depends on the quality of your chalkboard — if it’s a high-quality and non-porous material, then you’ll be able to easily erase any chalk marker lettering with any cloth or material.
